How Deduction Duel supports maths practice
Deduction Duel is a team number-property game. Learners use clues about factors, remainders, primes, digits, squares and cubes to narrow a hidden integer before risking a guess.
How to play
- Choose human or AI teams, match length, clue reveal mode, range and clue pack.
- Read each clue and keep track of which numbers are still possible.
- Guess early for more points, or wait for another clue and reduce the risk.
- Add round scores across the match to decide the winning team.
Skills practised
- Factors, multiples and divisibility
- Prime, square, cube and digit properties
- Remainders and systematic elimination
- Risk-reward reasoning and mathematical argument
Teacher notes
- Works well as a whole-class starter with pupils discussing candidate numbers before guessing.
- Use the mutual-agreement mode when you want teams to explain why another clue is or is not needed.
- Stretch clue packs are useful once pupils are comfortable with HCF, LCM and richer number properties.
